TRIKEFEST 2009 Riding to the rally, setting up and generally preparing
for everything went really well this year thanks largely to the wonderful
weather we had and of course the dedicated hard core members of the club
who never fail to ensure everyone has a good time. Friday was very busy with the majority of people turning
up and oh boy did they want to party. For some our rally is the first of
the year and they don’t half make up for the quiet winter.
God love ‘em! Friday night was great with the lovely Paul (Chaos
Roadshow) from Wozwolf RC getting us all in the mood with his carefully
selected tunes. Then the
moment everyone was waiting for, the Almaboobies arrived on stage and they
definitely didn’t disappoint. They
were great and the drum solo was fantastic.
The crowd finally let them off stage after a few encores.
The night carried on with a great party mood ‘til around 3am,
then peaceful sleep took over the site. Saturday morning started early with, as predicted a
beautiful sunny day. The tea tent was much appreciated by those hardened party
goers with tongues resembling furry animals.
Everyone was either chilling out in the sun or off on their travels
to explore the local attractions. The afternoon saw a dazzling array of trikes and bikes
enter into the custom show. This custom show must be the most interesting custom show you
are ever likely to see. All
of those weird and wonderful designs all in one place.
It’s amazing! When
the judging had been done the silly games got under way.
This year we had tug of war which went down well with everyone.
Even the kids joined in. Trikes
‘R’ Us women against the German women, now that was something to see.
Needless to say the TRU women won.
Hooray! Where was our
prize though Ged and Griff? The baby anvil throwing was won by a young man with a
lovely head of hair. Sorry
that’s all I can remember about him, apart from the fact that he seemed
quite young to have such strength and technique. Although as we all know
age is just a number. Anyway
well done to you mate whoever you are. As usual we all had a laugh with the reversible trike
pushing. What a chilled out
afternoon. Saturday night came and the first act was Jonno and his
performance of laying on broken glass with a fairly large individual
standing on him. He
does some wonderful things with balloons too.
His model trike was even better than last year and that’s saying
something. This is a man of
many talents, can’t wait to see what he does next year. Next on was Hogwash.
Well, how cool were they! Everyone
got up and boogied the night away, going down memory lane with all the old
Glam Rock tunes. A few people
even got dressed up, it looked like tinsel town. Finally at midnight, back by popular demand Caroline and
her fellow belly dancers took the stage. They certainly got some of the
crowd going (mentioning no names) and eventually got a few up dancing and
shaking their hips about. A
good time was had by all. Sunday morning came around too quickly this year and
maybe just maybe we could make it a three day event next year as it will
be a bank holiday. What a fantastic weekend!
It was brilliant weather, excellent entertainment and we had some
great people turn up this year, what more could you want from a rally.
Thanks to everyone who made the effort to attend this
year. Oh and a special thanks
to Steve and his fantastic team of caterers, it couldn’t have been any
better. See you next time. If you would like to give the club your feedback on the rally please complete the comments form here. Trikes R Us look forward to seeing you all around the rally circuit this year, if not, then at Trikefest 2010! Safe Riding.
